Automatic Smelting

Do you have a room full of furnaces that you constantly have to refill with coal? Do you ever come back from mining and wish you could just dump your entire inventory in a chest and have it smelt the ores automatically?

If you answered "yes" to either of those questions, or if you're just looking for a faster way to smelt stuff, then you should build a simple auto smelter. Below you can see a schematic of how to build an auto smelter. You put fuel in the chest marked with an "F," and you put what you want to smelt in the input chest, marked with an "I." Then, the smelted materials are placed automatically in the output chest, marked with an "O." This makes smelting a lot more efficient and can smelt many stacks of items without you have to reload the furnace.
